This year's festivities are presented by the Riverside BIA, the Ralph Thornton Community Centre, the TPL Queen/Saulter Library Branch, the South Riverdale Child-Parent Centre, and the City of Toronto.

Howl'oween at The Bentway

Halloween is going to be one for the dogs! After a three-year paws, The Bentway is bringing back our favourite four-legged neighborhood event, Howl’oween. Sponsored by Bone & Biscuit, The Bentway is inviting all local dogs and their owners to participate in a costume contest and Pup Parade, complete with amazing prizes, music, a festive photo selfie station, warm drinks, and local fur-endly vendors.


Prizes will be awarded to dogs for the Most Fall-Festive, Most Original, and Best DIY costumes. Not to mention Best Group Costume, which will be awarded to one lucky fur-family. Get creative and join a bark-tacular afternoon at The Bentway filled with Halloween family fun.

It’s time for The Fur Ball '22: A Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest and Charity Raffle! This year, we are partnering with the Friends of St. James Park and AAA to bring our dogs the best Halloween ever and raise funds for a very deserving cause.


All proceeds will be going to Through Ruff Times (https://www.throughrufftimes.org/). TRT supports under-resourced people-pet families through their RUFF Pet Food program and access to spay/neuter services. They also offer temporary pet care when "pawrents" need to access support services and do not have options for their cat or dog.

Where: Vermont Square Park - 819 Palmerston Ave, Toronto


Dogs and owners are asked to gather at Vermont Square Park at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 30th. The walk will begin at 1:30pm and will follow the route laid out on the map. There will be pauses for play, socializing and water at each of the 4 parks highlighted on our Instagram post. The park stops will also be utilized to show off the costumes and to be admired by local fans.


If you’d like to join us, please bring your costumed dog out! If you or your children would like to see the dogs but don’t live on the parade route, feel free to come out to one of the parks highlighted along the route. You are welcome to bring dog treats, but always check with the dog’s owner before offering them. If you want to put out water bowls, I’m sure the dogs would appreciate that too. 🙂

The pop-up includes a wood fire bbq pit and wood fire oven that offers fall-inspired bites, served in a squash or pumpkin. There are many vegetarian options and lots of unique and fun cuisine to try.


The experience is built around a mini pumpkin patch that guests can pick or paint. There are a ton of activities to do like pumpkin bowling or taking a picture on the hay bale sofa.

Jack Jackson is an award winning Toronto based dog photographer and co-founder of the social impact project Don't You Want Me. Jack's dog photography combines his love of the outdoors with an ability to capture dogs in moments of pure unadulterated joy. ‘Don’t You Want Me’ reveals the bond between queer and trans people and their rescue dogs, cultivating empathy, understanding and admiration through photography and storytelling. Jack has toured Canada with his work this year and alongside his private client and commercial work he is currently working on a documentary and a book.
